About Me

I was born and raised in Pavia, Italy. I specialized in experimental condensed matter physics at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, from which I obtained a Ph.D. in 2017. During my research activity, I implemented novel femtosecond laser spectroscopy techniques to study the dynamics of collective excitations in different classes of quantum materials. In 2017, I moved as a postdoctoral fellow to the Department of Physics of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. There, I used ultrashort terahertz pulses and time- and angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy to investigate open problems in the physics of strongly correlated electron systems. My current research interests include the search for novel quantum phases of matter, light-induced phase transitions, and the coherent control of collective modes. Besides science, my passions include playing classical piano, attending concerts, and exploring black and white photography.
